New Taipei City won the IFEA WORLD FESTIVAL & EVENT CITY AWARD, which presented by international Festivals & Events Association (IFEA). New Taipei City was the only recipient city of Taiwan. Recipient cities came from all over the globe including Philadelphia, Sydney, etc. We expect that it will attract more foreign tourists to visit New Taipei City.
The 2017 IFEA World Festival & Event City Award presented by international Festivals & Events Association, the IFEA’s 62nd Annual IFEA Convention & Expo and award ceremony held in Tucson Arizona USA on 9/14. Chang, Chi Chiang, the Commissioner of Information Department of New Taipei City Government, represented New Taipei City to receive the award.
Since Chu, Liluan took office as the mayor; New Taipei City held representative activities in every season such as the Pingxi Sky Lanterns Festival, Yeliu Religious Festival, Wan Jin Shi Marathon in the spring; Songkran Festival, Gongliao Ho-Hai-Yan Rock Festival in the summer; Sanxia Blue Dying Festival, Tamsui Environmental Arts Festival in the fall and the Christmas Land and Hot Spring Festival Season in the winter.
In 2016, more than 45million attendances came to our city, and nearly 23% of them were from overseas. Wan Jin Shi Marathon is Taiwan’s only race accredited with an International Association of Athletics Federations Label. Every year, an average of 12,000 marathon enthusiasts participates and competes among many top international runners. Moreover, many international presses selected the Sky Lantern Festival as one of the must-visit festivals in the lifetime.
After New Taipei City received the award, New Taipei City will become the IFEA member, and acquire IFEA marketing to the globe. It will improve our international visibility and attract more foreign tourists to visit Taiwan.
