The 2023 World Cup Men's Basketball Warm-up Matches in New Taipei, the Greatest NBA Craze Hits in August
The 2023 FIBA World Cup Basketball Tournament will be held in Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia from August 25th to September 10th. The New Taipei City Government and the T1 League are striving for the opportunity to host the warm-up matches at Xinzhuang Gymnasium. Today (17th), Hou Yu-Ih, Mayor of New Taipei City, Mindaugas Balčiūnas, Secretary-General of the Lithuanian Basketball Association, Qian Weijuan, President of the Taiwan Sports Lottery x T1 League, and Zhang Yunzhi, founder of Bros Sports Marketing Company, jointly announced that the 2023 World Cup basketball warm-up matches will be held in New Taipei City at the end of August. This is the time when most active NBA players would gather at the same time in the history of New Taipei City.

Hou Yu-Ih, Mayor of New Taipei City, said that on the eve of the 2023 FIBA World Cup basketball tournament, the New Taipei City Government and the T1 League have tried their best to obtain the opportunity to host the warm-up matches in Xinzhuang Gymnasium. This would be the first time for New Taipei City to gather the largest number of active NBA players. As the host city, New Taipei City is very honored to have the opportunity to provide a good environment for the games. Through the cooperation with the experienced event organizer Taiwan Sports Lottery x T1 League and Bros Sports Marketing Company, all Taiwanese fans could have the opportunity to witness the wonderful match-ups between the world's basketball powerhouses.
 

Mayor Hou especially thanked the Lithuanian Basketball Association and the Taiwan Sports Lottery x T1 League for offering New Taipei City the opportunity to participate in this much-anticipated event. It is believed that it would allow the world to see Taiwan and deepen the links between New Taipei City and the world through sports with the cooperation between New Taipei City, the Lithuanian Basketball Association and the Taiwan Sports Lottery x T1 League.

The Secretary-General of the Lithuanian Basketball Association mentioned that he is very happy to cooperate with the New Taipei City Government, Taiwan Sports Lottery x T1 League and Bros Sports Marketing Company to start these international basketball interactions. He also especially thanked Mayor Hou for his support and facilitation to this cooperation project. The Secretary-General emphasized that such interactions will definitely help create a global basketball development platform for the Asian basketball community and the Taiwanese basketball fans in the future. Zhang Yunzhi, founder of Bros Sports Marketing Company, added, "we have also held the NBA Taipei Games in 2009 and 2013 in the past, and have rich experience in international events. We are ready to help the players get prepared for the battles."
 
 
New Taipei City has always spared no effort in the development of basketball. In addition to its support for international competitions, in the ongoing HBL Top 8, 4 out of the top 8 boys' teams are schools in New Taipei City (Neng Ren Home Economic And Commercial Vocational High School, Private Nanshan Senior High School, New Taipei Municipal Taishan Senior High School, New Taipei Municipal San-Chung Commercial and Industrial Vocational High School), there are 2 teams in the girls’ group (New Taipei Municipal Tamsui Vocational High School, Private Nanshan Senior High School). In terms of career development, T1 League, P+ League and SBL also provide opportunities for student players from these traditional powerhouse school teams to switch to extend their basketball career. In addition to the naming rights cooperation with the "New Taipei CTBC DEA" and "New Taipei Kings", there are also practical actions to support the development of other New Taipei professional teams such as baseball, archery, women's softball, volleyball and football. These actions have together established a 4-level sports talent cultivation system which has made sports a profession and provided a broader development path for athletes in New Taipei City.

The 2023 FIBA ​​World Cup Basketball Tournament is jointly organized by Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia. There are 32 teams in total. The top 8 and the host country of the 2024 Olympic Games, France, will get tickets for the 2024 Olympic Games. In the warm-up matches held at the end of August, active NBA players such as Kings center Domantas Sabonis (Lithuania) and Grizzlies center Jonas Valančiūnas (Lithuania) are expected to gather in Xinzhuang Stadium.
