Travel Tips for September Blooming Fireworks at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf
Fireworks will bloom in the night sky of Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf in September. The first session will be on the first day of the Mid-Autumn Festival consecutive holidays. At 8:00 p.m. on September 9, there will be "9 minutes and 9 seconds" of fireworks on the river adorning the night. The mid-autumn festival with the full moon in the sky calls people to gather and experience the exclusive "Romantic Nine-Nine" from Fisherman's Wharf! Fisheries and fishing port affairs management office of New Taipei City encourages people who manage to enjoy the fireworks utilizing public transportation services. People are advice to take the Taipei MRT to Tamsui station then transfer Bus Red 26 to Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf Light Rail station ; or transfer to Danhai Light Rail at Hongshulin MRT station to Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf Light Rail Station. Both ways above will not only make you easily reach Fisherman's Wharf, but avoid heavy traffic caused by traffic control, and unnecessary to find a parking spaces.
 
Fisheries and fishing port affairs management office of New Taipei City stated that this year’s four fireworks shows at Fisherman’s Wharf (September 9, 11, 18, and 25) were all displayed at 8:00 pm, and traffic control around Fisherman’s Wharf was carried out from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the same day. The controlled range includes Guanhai Road, Zhongzheng Road Section 2, Zhongzheng Road Section 2, Lane 51, etc. During the control all the vehicles are prohibited from entering Zhongzheng Road Section 2 Lane 51, bicycles must be walked, and YouBike stands at Light Rail Fisherman's Wharf Station, Fisherman's Wharf Station , Light rail Sharon Station will be temporarily suspended. If you want to pass Fisherman's Wharf during the control, you must get through the second entrance from 4:00 p.m., the Red Bus 26 will also halt service throughout entire port area, please utilize Bus Red 26 at the temporary stop, and then walk into Fisherman's Wharf. The parking lot in the port area will start to charge for entry from 12:00, and there’s no exception to those who park less than 30 mins. When the parking lot is full, that one-in and one-out measure will be immediately imposed those adjacent regions outside the port area (Guanhai Road, Section 2 of Zhongzheng Road, Section 3 of Binhai Road) will be opened to pullover. As mentioned above, When leaving the venue, vehicles will be only allowed to exit from second entrance. On the other hand, pedestrians will leave following 3 pedestrian-only routes along Lane 51, Section 2, Zhongzheng Road, which will be walk, light rail or bus. For those fireworks audience at Bali river bank, you’re advice to park at the Shihsanhang Museum of Archeology Parking Lot and Bali Gongbo No. 2 Parking Lot. Given parking lot is full, please follow the instructions from on-site police officers and voluntary traffic warden to park at the roadside parking grid on Museum Road.
To avoid immediate heavy traffic after fireworks, Chang Li-chen, director of Fisheries and fishing port affairs management office here also recommends tourists not leaving immediately, it would be better to stay a while and have a coffee or beer on wooden path along the Tamsui River, or enjoy remaining water dance and band music with breeze. Besides, it’s also a good choice to stroll along river bank to Old Street. Following your cozy walk, the FAB Green Village will be only 15 mins away, Tamsui Customs Wharf will cost you another 5 mins, then Tamsui first fishing port and Old street will also take you merely 5 more mins, you’ll surely have a great excursion with lovely memories. By the way, due to current situation of coronavirus, please wear your masks, keep social distance and keep hands sanitized, and do not consume your food while walking.
