In an effort to encourage residents to take part in healthy recreational activities by offering suitable venues to the public, schools in New Taipei City are encouraged to provide their campus spaces to community residents for various uses provided that lessons at schools and school management are not disrupted. Due to considerations of the “pay-to-use” and cost-effectiveness analysis principles, school administrators are entitled to charge reasonable fees for the usage of campus space. However, residents do not have to apply or pay to use sports facilities (such as athletic fields) in schools for individual recreational use. Schools are generally open during after school hours of normal weekdays, statutory holidays, weekends and summer/winter vacation.
