【NEW TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan】 Leading a delegation of 20 high-caliber technology enterprises to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the New Taipei City Government concluded its mission at the region’s flagship tech exhibition, "LEAP 2026," on September 3. Throughout the exhibition, the delegation facilitated over 1,040 business matchmaking sessions, drawing enthusiastic inquiries and discussions from buyers across Gulf countries—such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates—as well as Europe and the United States. The mission is estimated to generate NT$379 million in potential business opportunities, demonstrating the global competitiveness of New Taipei’s technology sector.

Deputy Director-General Pi-Yu Huang of the Economic Development Department highlighted that New Taipei City is home to over 320,000 enterprises, boasting a mature ecosystem in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), smart manufacturing, and AIoT. Participating collectively under the unified city brand of the "New Taipei City Pavilion" significantly elevated the global visibility of local businesses. Participating companies noted that exhibiting together helped deepen engagements with international clients and partners. Furthermore, on-site translation and business matchmaking support provided by the pavilion allowed enterprises to focus on negotiations, maximizing their exhibition outcomes.

In addition to attending LEAP 2026, the city delegation seized the opportunity to broaden economic and trade engagements across the Middle East. On August 28, the team paid a return visit to Turkey’s Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) to sustain dialogue and advance bilateral economic and industrial collaboration. The delegation also conducted a field study at Galataport Istanbul to examine mixed-use development models integrating commercial, cultural, and public open spaces, as well as the SantralIstanbul Energy Museum to learn from international best practices in industrial heritage revitalization and adaptive reuse—serving as valuable benchmarks for New Taipei's future urban development and industrial transformation.

To further strengthen economic cooperation between New Taipei and Saudi Arabia, the delegation visited Nomd Holding during the exhibition period. The two parties engaged in deep discussions on ICT applications, gained insights into the local investment landscape, and explored collaboration opportunities aligning New Taipei's technological strengths with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s "Vision 2030". The delegation encouraged Taiwanese businesses to establish an early presence in the Saudi market and, through the Riyadh Chamber, extended invitations to Saudi enterprises to attend the upcoming New Taipei International Procurement Matchmaking Conference, fostering long-term partnerships through substantive exchanges. Furthermore, the team toured the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) to gain first-hand insights into its planning and advancements in smart buildings, green sustainability, intelligent transportation, and digital operations, assessing Saudi Arabia's tangible progress in smart cities and digital transformation.

The Economic Development Department emphasized that the New Taipei City Trade Mission engaged in institutional visits, business matchmaking, and industrial benchmarking to connect local enterprises directly with global buyers, identify market demands, and expand international opportunities. Looking ahead, the city government will continue organizing international trade missions, overseas procurement matchmaking conferences, and bilateral association exchanges to empower local industries, capture global business opportunities, and continuously strengthen New Taipei's international industrial competitiveness.
