20th Labor Star Singing Contest Grand Finals on October 18 Talented Singers Compete for This Year’s Championship Titles
[New Taipei City News] The New Taipei City Labor Affairs Department will hold the grand finals of the 20th Labor Star Singing Contest on Sunday, October 18, at the 6th-floor auditorium of New Taipei City Hall. This year, a total of 711 contestants registered for the competition. After intense competition in the preliminary and semifinal rounds, the top 10 finalists in each of the three categories—Charisma Star, Vitality Star, and Migrant Star—have been selected . They will showcase their vocal talents on the grand finals stage and compete for the highest honor in their respective categories.
According to the Labor Affairs Department, the Labor Star Singing Contest is one of Taiwan’s longest-running singing competitions for workers organized by a public agency. Now in its 20th edition, the contest has welcomed more than 10,000 workers to the stage over the years, providing them with an opportunity to express their confidence and vitality through song. It encourages workers to relieve work-related stress and express themselves through singing in during their time away from work, while fostering friendships through music. The contest offers a stage for recreation, connection, and the celebration of talent.
This year’s grand finals promise numerous highlights. In the Charisma Star category, 林志堅, who placed sixth last year, has returned to compete again. His heartfelt rendition of “情話摻沙” in the semifinals earned high praise from the judges and demonstrated his determination to claim the championship. In the Vitality Star category, first-time contestant 張雨潔 showcased her vocal ability and stage presence with the English-language song “If I Ain’t Got You,” emerging as a dark horse to watch. In the Migrant Star category, 林俊賢 impressed with his rich, resonant voice and confident stage presence in “Feeling Good.” With their distinctive talents, contestants in all three categories will compete for top honors in the grand finals.
Last year’s champions—謝春德, 陳靜南, and 鄭康亮—have also been invited to perform as give guest artists , showcasing their outstanding vocal talents for this year’s contestants. In addition, contestants who placed 11th to 20th in each category will receive their awards at the grand finals, sharing in the cheers and applause. The public, along with contestants’ families, friends, and supporters, is warmly invited to attend and witness the crowning of this year’s champions.
