New Taipei City, Taipei City, Keelung City, and Taoyuan City Join Forces in Bangkok to Promote Northern Taiwan Tourism in the Thai Market
Recognizing the continued growth of Thailand's outbound travel market, the Tourism and Travel Department of the New Taipei City Government will join the governments of Taipei City, Keelung City, and Taoyuan City in Bangkok from July 1 to July 4 to jointly host the "2026 Northern Taiwan Four Cities Tourism Promotion Campaign in Thailand." Through tourism presentations, business matching sessions, visits to tourism organizations, and consumer roadshow events, the four cities will showcase the diverse tourism experiences of Northern Taiwan to Thailand's travel trade, media, and consumers, further strengthening Northern Taiwan's brand presence in the Thai market.
According to Yang Tsung-min, Commissioner of the Tourism and Travel Department of the New Taipei City Government, New Taipei City offers Taiwan's most comprehensive collection of mountain, coastal, urban, and rural tourism resources. From internationally renowned attractions such as the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival and the historic mountain town of Jiufen, to emerging landmarks including the Danjiang Bridge and the New Taipei City Art Museum, the city provides experiences that perfectly match the preferences of Thai travelers, who are particularly drawn to photogenic destinations, cultural experiences, and culinary exploration. Commissioner Yang expressed confidence that this promotional campaign will encourage more Thai visitors to choose Northern Taiwan as their gateway to exploring Taiwan.
Under the shared destination brand "Fantastic Northern Taiwan," the four cities are once again collaborating to present an integrated tourism offering that combines metropolitan attractions, harbor landscapes, mountain and coastal scenery, and rich cultural experiences. Commissioner Yang noted that the four neighboring cities enjoy excellent transportation connectivity and possess complementary tourism resources, making multi-city travel both convenient and appealing. In addition to bringing together travel agencies, accommodation providers, cultural and creative brands, specialty restaurants, and local souvenir businesses, the delegation will participate in business matching sessions with more than 30 Thai travel companies, fostering face-to-face partnerships and creating new opportunities to introduce Northern Taiwan travel products to the Thai market.
Market analysis indicates that approximately 60 percent of Thai visitors to Taiwan travel in organized tour groups, while 40 percent travel independently. Their average length of stay ranges from four to five days, with strong interests in Instagram-worthy attractions, religious and cultural experiences, local cuisine, and shopping. In response to these travel preferences, New Taipei City will highlight four key promotional themes: emerging attractions, religious and spiritual tourism, culinary experiences, and signature festivals and events.
The city will also showcase its internationally acclaimed annual events, including the world-renowned Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival, the New Taipei Christmasland, which attracts millions of visitors each year, the vibrant Ho-Hai-Yan Rock Festival, and the enchanting Jiufen Red Lantern Festival. These signature festivals highlight New Taipei City's unique cultural identity and year-round tourism appeal, offering Thai visitors compelling reasons to experience the city in every season.
Beyond the B2B tourism promotion event, the delegation will visit leading tourism organizations and travel associations in Thailand to strengthen bilateral tourism cooperation and establish long-term strategic partnerships. In addition, public roadshow events will be held in Bangkok on July 2 and July 3, featuring immersive city-themed displays and interactive experiences that will allow local residents to discover the vibrant culture, diverse attractions, and dynamic tourism offerings of Northern Taiwan firsthand.
