A delegation from the Chinese American Elected Officials Association (CEO) met with New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih on March 11, 2025, during their recent visit to Taiwan. The delegation consisted primarily of officials from New Taipei's sister cities and twin towns in California, and the two sides exchanged views on issues such as education, culture, and Taiwan-U.S. relations.

Among the visiting cities, Diamond Bar, Monterey Park, and San Marino are sister cities of Sanxia, Yonghe, and Tamsui Districts, respectively. In his remarks, Hou extended a warm welcome to the representatives of California's sister cities and twin towns and recognized the contributions of Chinese-American mayors and council members to their communities. New Taipei City maintains sister-city relationships with 38 cities across the United States, including 13 in California. The city looks forward to fostering closer ties through future exchanges and mutual visits with its sister cities in California.

Delegation leader and Diamond Bar City Council Member Stan Liu emphasized that this visit marked the first official delegation from the CEO to Taiwan in 20 years. He highlighted that many of the visiting mayors and council members have personal ties to New Taipei, having lived or grown up in the city. Liu also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the New Taipei City Government and invited Hou to visit California in the future.
